I took my first class in printmaking at The Ink Shop in 2013 and fell in love with the process. After printing several traditional reduction woodcuts, I started experimenting with the unconventional idea of laying black down as the first ink layer on my prints. This technique creates some challenges in how the colored inks interact with the black, but allows for looser lines and exaggerated textures in the inks. I love to understand the science behind printing and am often testing papers and ink and pressure to perfect my process. Currently I am at work on multiple picture book projects.
