Bio

I was born in Burlington, Vermont in 1972. As a baby I spent many hours in the University of Vermont printmaking studio with my dad, Bill Davison, who was the printmaking professor there for 35 years. When I was twelve my dad taught me how to screen print and when I was fourteen I was introduced to etching in my high school. My etching teacher, Stephen Thomas, was a master printer at Crown Point Press and between my dad and Stephen, I was given an invaluble introduction into printmaking. Eventually I studied etching, screen printing and photography at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. After I graduated from SAIC I moved to Los Angeles to print at Gemini G.E.L. for two years and eventually returned to the Bay Area to focus on my art career. Besides printing at Gemini, I have interned at Crown Point Press, taught mono-printing workshops at Aurobora Press and taught etching and drawing at Saint Michael's College in Colchester, VT.

Statement

Technically, I screen print photographic images onto materials ranging from dirt and plaster to concrete and metal. These pieces are one of a kind. I often will make small editions of etchings to accompany the major one of a kind pieces. The subject matter ranges from personal to political and environmental and is often focusing on cycles and change, life and death. I use iconic images with a pop-art influence.
