Current Events: Artist in Residence Grant One 4-6 week residency, open to applicants at all levels nationally and internationally, which provides support for development & production of individual projects in printmaking or bookarts. The Ink Shop is pleased to announce that the first recipient of the Artist in Residence award is... Cliona Harmey of Dublin, Ireland. The InkShop/Printmaking Center's Grant Recipient Cliona Harmey has had, since 1993, extensive studies in Webmaster Skills, experimental textiles, sculpture, and printmaking. These form the foundation for her month of research in Ithaca, New York this summer. Aidan Dunne of The Irish Times' feature column "Visual Art" stated in his review of her exhibit "Sequent" that Cliona's art "...sets up a dialogue between technology and nature. She filters examples of simple natural phenomena -- rainfall, a breeze, plants growing and responding to the diurnal cycle -- through audio-visual media...". Her specific concentration while in the U.S. will involve using a variety of photography-based print processes to continue her quest to explore and capture the aforementioned 'fleeting moments' in nature.
